Should you take creatine on off days3/30/2023 Whether it’s before a workout, after a workout, at bedtime, first thing in the morning, or any other type of routine that gets you to take it as needed (daily, in most cases), the consistency of saturating your muscle stores is what matters most. Whenever You Wantĭespite all the theories as to when it is best to take creatine, the most important things are that you take it every day and that you properly hydrate when supplementing. If, on the other hand, you are merely taking it on rest days, there’s not a lot of research about its efficacy when taken this way. If you are taking creatine daily as part of your protocol, taking it during rest days is just part of the regimen. However, the two most frequently used protocols for taking creatine require daily consumption during a maintenance phase regardless of when you take it. People who advocate taking creatine on rest days claim it is the best way to make sure you maintain a high level of the supplement in your muscle stores. Yet another study that proves more solid research is required before any definitive answer to the question of when to take creatine can be given with confidence. There was a small sample size (19 recreational bodybuilders) studied over a 4 week period of time and there was no standardization of the weights used for each participant. While the results of this study confirm that consuming creatine immediately post-workout is superior to pre-workout in terms of body composition and strength comparison, the study itself is flawed. There are also theories that the best time to consume protein is immediately after a workout and that, if you also supplement with creatine, it is ideal for you to take them together. In addition, creatine aids in and shortens the length of time of muscle recovery, so this would be the perfect time to maximize the potential to heal quickly, with as little fatigue as possible. Since the entire goal of creatine dosing is to fill the muscle stores, it would seem like the perfect time to bring the levels up to where they were pre-workout. Those who believe that the best time to take creatine is after a workout usually contend that it is the optimal time to replenish what you’ve used during your workout. “There are also theories that the best time to consume protein is immediately after a workout and that, if you also supplement with creatine, it is ideal for you to take them together.” This study found that there isn’t enough evidence to substantiate the theory that timing of taking creatine should be of any real concern and that more well-controlled studies are required to determine whether or not timing influences creatine’s ergogenic effects. It’s a consistent dosing practice as opposed to individual dosage, so it’s more important that you take it regularly than take it in relation to when you work out. The problem with this thinking is that you do not use creatine immediately upon consumption. In the gym, the more power you make available to the muscles means the harder you can work the better the results. The further you travel, the more gas you use, so it can’t hurt to fill ‘er up before you begin. It’s almost like filling the gas tank before you begin to take a trip. Proponents of taking creatine pre-workout typically contend that you are enhancing the body’s supply of creatine immediately before you begin to use it in especially challenging workouts. And if you are training with a fitness professional, that might be the first place you look for guidance. Of course, it’s always important to consult your physician before beginning a new supplement protocol. So, let’s take a look at some of the most popular theories on when to take creatine, thereby giving you enough information to figure out what would work best for you. And, like all good hypotheses, everyone thinks theirs is the best one. The consensus coming from all this research and analysis is that more research is needed. You could run the gamut with the results of all the research studies on creatine and still come up with a multitude of optimal times to take the wildly popular muscle enhancing supplement. There are probably as many opinions on the best time to take creatine as there are people taking it. When it comes to taking supplements, that quest for the optimal timing is no exception. Competitive athletes are always looking for the edge, the advantage that will make them run faster, lift more, recover faster, and, in many cases, look better than their peers.

Guild starfire bass3/30/2023 I've seen these used as cheap as $600-$700, but generally for a bit more. Can be top-loaded or strung through, so compatible with a wider range (short/medium scale) of string sets. More "modern" sound (and appearance), more punch and a broader tonal palette than the re-issue BiSonics. Humbucker and "split" coil pup configuration. Also short scale and semi-hollow body construction. This could be another option, depending on what you're after. If you are looking for a mellow sounding shortscale bass, then the Bisonic Starfire is where it's at. If I was looking for a punchy, clear, powerful sounding shortscale bass, I would get the Gibson Les Paul Double Cutaway Tribute bass currently produced by Gibson. 2011 Gibson SG bass - plays like a dream, looks great, mine sounded awful. Mustangs sound (like a Pbass) and play great, too. But then I like a more aggressive tiger growly tone. It has all the plusses of a shortscale bass and tonally blows away my Starfire I. My shortscale Gibson Les Paul Tribute Double Cutaway Bass in worn brown sounds like half way between a 4003 and a Pbass. Hard to intonate low estring as the saddle doesn't have enough travel. It will definitely make it easier to play difficult passages with it's closer string spacing and shortscale. However, it plays on the left hand like a dream even way up above the 12th fret. It needed to be heavily modded to silence the RF and AC noise for recording and live DI to board playing. It has a much mellower, softer spoken, less aggressive tone. It can sound good, but doesn't have the punch and clarity of a (industry standard) Pbass or a 4003 (non-industry standard) bass if that is what you are looking for. This is in reference to playing clean with fingers, and not an overdriven sound. I’m not trying to imply that any of these differences make one bass “better” than the other, just pointing out that there are some differences of which you should be aware.īest thing to do is to try to play examples of as many of the different variations as you can find in order to discover what feels most comfortable and sounds best to you. One other thing worth mentioning about the new, Indonesian-made Starfires (with the “P”-type pickup) is that the neck seems to be set deeper into the body than that of either the vintage, US-made and Korean-made reissues, which affects easy access to the upper frets. Note also that not all Mustangs feature the same fretboard radius or fret size: many vintage ones as well as the Japanese reissues have “vintage”-sized (narrow) frets and a 7.25” fretboard radius while many later (Mexican) ones have medium-jumbo frets and a 9.5” fretboard radius. the SF’s 21) and partly to do with it having a much smaller, thinner body. This has partly to do with the Mustang having only 19 frets (vs. At that point, I found the Mustang to be ergonomically comfortable.Īfter moving on to playing Starfires, I found the Mustang felt rather "toy-like" and awkward to hold. I found the pickups to be rather lackluster so swapped in some Nordstrand NM4s, which yielded a noticeable, though not world-changing improvement. When I first started transitioning from playing mostly guitar to playing mostly bass, I bought a Mustang (MIJ). All have a body which is quite similar in size to a Gibson ES 330/335 or Epiphone Casino/Riviera/Sheraton (though the scale length is obviously longer). I've played both the Newark Street (Korean) Starfire I & II and a DeArmond Starfire II as well as a Westerly (USA) Starfire II. There are threads about converting a new Starfire I from P style PU to Bisonic and one about shielding a Bisonic Starfire I because it was too noisy for the owner. but if you don't want to mess with that you may want to consider something with humbuckers. I can easily address it - turn off the cell phone, don't play when the clothes are washing or dinner is being cooked, roll of the volume, etc. Since you said "record" all my Bisonics pick up RF interference to some degree or another. Nothing compares to my '67, including the reissues, but you would pay significantly more to get one. The Newark Street one pickup Starfire with Bisonic seems to have been dropped from the lineup but used ones should be available. The new Starfire I with the P style pickup has comparatively low price and all indications are that it has some of the Starfire characteristics. All the Starfires are short scale which is a choice not everybody wants to make. There is a hollow body tone that any Starfire will get that any solid body won't. Your budget and preference for new, used or vintage would help focus the answer.

Run bochs for puppy linux3/29/2023 Slacko Puppy 7.0, compare? Or wold some other non Ubuntu version serve me better? How would a version that's NOT based on Ubuntu, e.g. I'd forgotten what a sweet, easy-to-use Puppy it was.! That disappeared after a few months - for reasons I won't go into - and I re-installed the final version about a year ago. was first putting it together, and really liked it. I initially ran one of the 'beta' versions nearly 5 years ago, when Phil B. I may be biased here on top of a bunch of 64-bit Puppies, I also run 32-bit Xenial myself. On top of which, Canonical introduced a lot of new concepts with Bionic Beaver, some of which STILL haven't quite been fully fixed yet. Xenial has had 2 more years of development, and figuring out the weak points. Well this may sound daft (and it's only my personal opinion, when it boils right down to it).especially in a world where we're conditioned to think that newer ALWAYS means better/'safer'. Whether you agree with my assessment or not, you've been "conditioned" to think that way. If it only JUST went EOL, would I not be better off with BionicPup32 8.0, where EOL is two years from now? What's the main diference/diferrences compared to BionicPup32 8.0?ĭon't take this the wrong way, but you're displaying the 'classic' symptoms. (That's a direct link to the ISO file, BTW.) Its 'parent', Ubuntu 16.04 'Xenial Xerus' has only JUST gone EOL hence, everything will still be working on it for a good long while yet.browsers, etc, especially. Just for the hell of it, give a 64-bit Puppy a 'test-run'.then tell me you've come across another distro that's more functional, and more lightweight.Īs for suggestions, give Xenialpup 7.5 a look. You can't tell me you haven't got a 64-bit box somewhere there. The only stuff that SHOULD be kept 'up-to-date' is anything that faces t'internet browsers, e-mail clients, chat clients, etc. If it continues to do what you want from it, where's the point in upgrading it? If it ain't broken, don't try to 'fix' it. Puppy software may not have the fancy 'eye-candy' & 'bling' that you're perhaps used to with other OSs, but it's functional, and gets the job done. Nevertheless, it's an inescapable fact that there's a ton of halfway decent, (mostly) Linux-friendly second-hand 64-bit machines out there, many of which can be picked up for VERY reasonable prices.if you know where to look for 'em. Way of the world, I'm afraid it's called (hah!) "progress". Folks didn't want 16-bit to die, but eventually it did devs stopped supporting it, and building for it. But, like everywhere else, things are inexorably moving towards 64-bit 'totality'.Ħ4-bit hardware has been around for nearly 20 years, at this point. She's designed, above all, to be lightweight AND efficient, specifically for keeping older hardware still productive & useful. Puppy is rather different, both in philosophy AND operation, to most of the mainstream distros.

Garbage disposal leaking3/29/2023 Wipe away any excess putty that oozes out.Ĥ) Reinstall the disposal and turn power back on at the service panel. If any one of the seals that waterproof the system gets worn, the garbage disposal can start to leak. When done, then tighten the mounting bolts drawing the sink flange tight to the sink surface. There are two drain lines connected to your system. Squeeze some plumber’s putty between the sink flange and the sink, completely around the flange. When your disposal is leaking from the side, it can be because of loose drain lines. Therefore, loosen the bolts and push the sink flange slightly above the surface of the sink. But if they are already tight, then the leak may be caused by failed plumber’s putty that is there to seal this flange. If they are loose, this could be the cause of your leak. However, if the unit still leaks, a worn-out seal may be the cause. If it does, greatyou don’t need to do anything else. Tighten all the connections and bolts to see if this solves your issue. When you say that you have water leaking from the “base” of your garbage disposal, I assume that you mean where the garbage disposal connects to your sink?Īssuming that it is, then here’s how you can fix this leak:ġ) Turn off power to the disposal at the electrical service panel, or completely unplug the unit.Ģ) Where the disposal mounts to the bottom of your sink, turn the disposal clockwise to loosen it, and then remove the unit from the mounting flange.ģ) There will be three mounting bolts holding the flange on. Sans quod libet3/29/2023 Thirty Pieces and Four are from the same decade, however are separated by a divide. The Bozzini pivots expertly between delicate antique and dissonant chords. It’s traditionally notated and organized akin to the micro and macro structures Cage explored in his early percussion music. The String Quartet in Four Parts was written just before Cage’s plunge into chance. Grant Chu Covell, La Folia, 1 novembre 2015Īs a collection, Cage’s string quartets permit an ensemble to explore different ways of collaborating.

Sequential gearbox3/29/2023 And obviously you’ll also need a corresponding shifter to make those rapid-fire changes possible. If you want to retrofit your transmission for extreme performance, you’ll need a dog box gear set along with other parts like an upgraded oil cooler. Most sequential racing transmissions are mounted on a dog box with a selector drum. When you have a dog box you don’t need a clutch, which means you can change gear faster, but the shift also requires more force. Instead, the idea is to establish a tight positive fit and traction. Retrofitted sequential transmissions are usually installed in combination with a dog box – an H-pattern gearbox that uses ‘dog rings’ instead of syncro rings. If you’d like to book an appointment to talk about it, just send us a chat message or fill out our contact form. Transmission installation is another of our specialities. If you want to retrofit your car with a sequential transmission, you can do it yourself if you have the experience, or of course you can have it fitted by a tuning workshop you trust. Tuning: retrofitting sequential transmissions and dog boxes The clutch is hydraulic instead of manual, and a second valve block controls the gear change. This ensures that a consistent pressure of 40 to 50 bar is maintained for shifting. Sequential transmissions in sports cars usually have their own oil circuit with an electric oil pump. As a sequential transmission has no torque converter, it also saves you fuel. This is irrelevant in motorsport where the transmission only has to deliver top performance once, and can then be replaced. But the gears are under much more stress, which means they wear faster. On a sequential transmission as opposed to a manual one, traction interruption is minimal, which is a big advantage. Cars for road use have helical (bevel) gears and draw-key gears, where a cone/wedge presses balls between the main shaft and the gears in order to change gear. Race cars sometimes even have triple clutches. Semi-automatics change gear incredibly fast on account of the special clutch design (and dual clutch transmissions are faster still). Either way, shift command transmission is exclusively electrical. Race cars usually have a rocker switch on the steering wheel, whereas normal cars have a gear lever. But the types used in Formula 1 and the like are the deluxe version, because the priorities are very different to those for road driving. The reason it’s so loud is because of the straight cut (spur) gears. No doubt you’re familiar with the unmistakeable earsplitting sound a sequential transmission makes – like a wheezing crackle. The technology behind sequential transmissions originates in motorsport. Sequential transmissions in motorsport engineering So a sequential transmission gives you the best of both worlds. When it comes to gears, a fully automatic shifting system is obviously far more convenient because there’s no clutch. One big advantage of a semi-automatic is that there’s no torque converter, which means your fuel consumption is lower. But you do get more of a feel for the car and for driving. Since you can’t skip a gear, your freedom is somewhat limited. For example, at the red light they go straight from fifth to first, which contradicts the usual definition of a sequential transmission. in today’s sports cars, that’s not entirely accurate. That’s why the sequential shifting system is often referred to as semi-automatic. However, the process is largely automated: all you have to do is touch the lever. So you can only ever go up or down one gear. Unlike manual shifting, you change gear in a linear sequence. But the term is also used to mean a transmission that’s a cross between manual and automatic. Fundamentally, it only refers to the actual process of shifting: you have to shift each gear up or down in sequence – you can’t jump from second to fourth for example. First of all, the term ‘sequential gearbox’ tends to be used inconsistently.

Dropzone commander rules3/29/2023 In exchange for taking away it’s paltry AA armament, for no cost you can remove the L-2 from the “Satan” chaingun. It’s able to start a fast mover attack, and convert into gunship mode instead. The hellhog fast mover, looks like an interesting unit as well. The goliath bomb deals structural damage as yet unseen in DzC! Sure, it’s limited 1, but you can follow it up with two frag barrels into the same building over the next two turns! Immediately, it sticks out as a winner of building based missions. But this is going to give your opponent a hernia when used properly. The feral only barrel bomber looks like pure win. However it may get you AA guns right into the enemy’s face! It deviates, you have to pay for it, and if they all die then any units not yet deployed are out of the game. The breaching drill is a very interesting option. The lifthawk is competitively priced (similar to the harbinger) for it’s options, although 4+ on it’s AA gun makes it a weapon likely best used in opportunities against light dropships. Coverage isn’t disappointing, although it makes it an expensive transport. An AA decked leviathan is no slouch either, bringing 8 AA shots at low (for AA gun) energy. If you can put some serious firepower into one hovercraft based battlegroup, the activate last/activate first trick means you can get two rounds of firing in, with a 10″ plus peek move. This is potentially going to have an interesting list building effect. They can’t jump over buildings, but units in them can fire if they don’t use their second embark/disembark move (ie they can disembark then fire, or fire then disembark). They move on full speed on the turn they come in (10″ in many cases), they have relatively high armour (7 or 8) and high damage points. Hovercraft are going to be a game changer. Check out the Tactics Corner for more great reviews! We’ll cover the new faction, changes to experimental units, and also a couple of hints/clues as to the future of DzC glimpsed from some rules. Reconquest: Phase 1 introduces the resistance, a new race of tough as nails humans who live under the bio-jackboots of the scourge invaders, new missions, final rules for the last set of experimental units, and famous commanders. So what’s in the new book, is it any good and how will it change my games of DzC?
